Japanese Language in Kent County and Surrounding Areas

Delaware’s Japanese Language Lab was created out of a desire to help those who wish to study Japanese Language and Culture in Kent County, Delaware; but are unsure of how or where to begin.

We want to be the first step, but not your last stop in the journey to Japanese language and culture immersion. For this reason, we hope to act as an American-style “Juku” or focused learning and resource center.

Japanese Language - Nihongo

Learning Japanese Language can be a little intimidating for some English-speakers. This may be due to the difference in some vowel pronunciations, the lack of certain sounds in Japanese that exist in English, or the 3 separate writing systems (Hiragana, Katakana, Kanji) that are used in combinations to write in Japanese. With genuine practice, English-speakers learn that the Japanese Language is far less intimidating and much more fun and exciting than they realized!

Japanese Culture - Bunka

From the ancient Jomon-era (14,000 BCE.) to the current Reiwa-era (present-day), the people of Japan have developed a unique culture centered around nature, harmony, and innovation. Part of Japan’s uniqueness is the ability of the Japanese to not only create new things, but to take things that may have been created in other cultures from around the world and add a distinctly, unique Japanese flair to it. This is what helps to make the culture of Japan so rich and exciting!
